All Michael wanted was a prom date.

Record store teen romance meets wild adventures when hopeless romantic Michael King finally works up the courage to ask out his dream girl—the insatiable and impossibly cool Jennifer Jones. But Jennifer comes with complications: namely a furious drug dealer, a drag queen crime boss, and a duffel bag full of trouble.

Prom night spins wildly out of control as the two mismatched misfits set out on an outrageous odyssey through Long Island’s underground scene, complete with car chases, gunfights, and awkward first-time romances.

Heartbreaker is a story of first love, last chances, and learning that sometimes the craziest nights lead to the truest connections.

Michael

Hey, I’m Michael. I’m 18 years old and it’s my last year of high school.

Honestly, I process pretty much everything through music and movies. That probably sounds pretentious, but it’s true—music is basically my religion. I work at this record store where I can totally geek out about tunes all day. My mom’s constantly on my case about college applications, but I’ve got this dream about moving to New York City and doing something with music. I know, I know – every suburban kid probably says that.

I live with my mom—it’s just been us since Dad died. She’s great, but she’s got this whole future mapped out for me that I’m not sure I want. The thing is, I see life differently than most people around here. Like, I get that everyone thinks I’m this naive kid who needs to “grow up,” but maybe I just believe in something more than this suburban existence, ya know?

And then there’s Jennifer. Jennifer freaking Jones. God, where do I even start? She’s everything I’ve ever wanted in a girl, but she’s also completely terrifying in the best possible way. I know I’m probably in way over my head, but I’m gonna shoot my shot.

Sometimes you’ve got to take that leap, right? Even if everyone thinks you’re crazy.

Jennifer

Let’s get one thing straight—I’m probably not the girl you want me to be.

I used to be a model in Milan. Now I’m scraping minimum wage at some suburban shithole record store. But that’s not all I do… Let’s just say I’ve got my hands in a few other ventures that aren’t exactly retail-oriented.

Everyone’s got this image of who they think I am—the hot ex-model, the bad girl, the shit stirrer. Whatever. The truth is, I’m  just trying to stay afloat in a world that’s always looking to drag you down.

And yeah, this led me down some dangerous paths, but I was managing just fine—until I found myself holding a cash-filled duffle bag belonging to my mom’s drug dealer boyfriend. And I owe him money.

RYAN DAVID

Ryan David is a bold filmmaker who pushes familiar film genres into new territories. In Heartbreaker, he crafts a narrative that explores the intersection between innocence and experience, where suburban teenage dreams collide with criminal nightmares.

“Heartbreaker is a love letter to my 13 year old self in 1999.”

– Ryan David, Director

In the neon-soaked universe of Heartbreaker, Ryan David weaves together pop culture obsessions, sexual tensions and criminal underground power plays like a perfectly crafted mixtape. The film juxtaposes coming-of-age teen romance with crime thriller intensity, creating a frightening yet thrilling world where daydreams, nightmares and underworld realities intersect.

Heartbreaker is a high octane descent into prom night gone wrong. The script tells the tale of a romance that blooms between suburb-bound high school senior Michael and dangerous seductress Jennifer in a tale where prom night becomes a battleground between drag queen crime lords and money-hungry drug dealers.

While Michael helps Jennifer rediscover her innocence and vulnerability, Jennifer gives Michael the courage to break free from his sheltered existence. Heartbreaker explores the contrasting characteristics of idealism and cynicism in a narrative where both characters ultimately affect change in each other during the course of one wild night together.

Despite the script’s sinister themes and high-tensity pace—finishing with an explosive climax of a warehouse drag ball erupting with gunfire and car chase finales—Heartbreaker is a deeply personal coming-of-age story that explores the possibility of taking a risk and and start living—even if it may get you killed.
